Use of Personal Information with Credit Reference Agencies To find the most suitable product for you, we may utilize information held by credit reference agencies (CRAs). A CRA collects personal information from various sources and provides it for various purposes, including prospective lenders' use in making credit decisions.

The usage of your information by us and the CRAs is detailed in the section 'Use of Personal Information in relation to services involving CRAs.' By confirming your agreement to proceed, you are acknowledging that we and the CRAs may each use your information in this manner.

Use of Personal Information in relation to services involving CRAs We may consult CRAs for publicly held data, such as the electoral roll and shared credit performance data, to determine the most suitable products for you and to validate the information you provide to us. It is important to note that there may be alternative products available from lenders who are not affiliated with this service.

When a CRA receives a search request from us, they will place a quotation search footprint on your credit report, regardless of whether you decide to apply for the product. This search will not negatively impact your credit rating.

The data we provide to CRAs may be shared with other organisations, including Fraud Prevention Agencies, for identity verification, fraud prevention, tracing, and debt collection purposes. CRAs may also use the data for statistical analysis.

In certain cases, your data may be shared with lender(s) to verify if you are an existing customer (which may affect your eligibility for their products) or for fraud prevention purposes. Note that the lender is not authorized to use your data for any other purpose.

You can obtain a copy of your credit report from any of the CRAs as follows:

Links To and From Other Websites

This Privacy Notice only pertains to Numo, and it does not cover the data processing practices of other organisations linked to or from our website. We encourage you to review the Privacy Notices of any other websites you visit to understand their data handling processes.

International Transfer of Personal Data

Numo will only transfer personal data to recipient organisations outside the UK if those organisations are obligated to protect personal data in a manner similar to that required by UK law. We ensure this protection through at least one of the following safeguards:

  1. Transferring data only to countries that UK law deems to provide an adequate level of personal data protection.
  2. Including specific terms in contracts between us and recipient organisations, which have been approved for use in the UK and provide personal data with the same level of protection as in the UK.

Automated Decision-Making

We utilize automated checks to determine your eligibility for a mortgage and whether we or selected partners are best suited to assist with your mortgage requirements. In some cases, this may result in neither Numo nor our selected partners being able to help you secure a mortgage. Our decision-making process may involve reviewing your credit profile, affordability, property details, and product availability based on the information you provide. If we are unable to assist you, it does not necessarily mean you cannot obtain a mortgage; it simply means that we cannot help you at this time.

How We Store Your Information The security of personal data is of utmost importance to us. As such, we have implemented appropriate security measures to protect personal information from being lost, accessed, or used in an unauthorized manner.

How Long We Store Your Personal Data

We retain your personal data for only as long as necessary. The duration of retention depends on various factors, including the purpose and legal basis for data collection at the time of collection, as well as any ongoing relationship we maintain with you. We ensure that data retention aligns with your needs, as well as our legal and regulatory obligations and agreements with you, in a fair and proportionate manner.

Your Rights Over Your Data You have specific rights regarding your personal data, including:

  1. The Right to Be Informed:
  • Organisations must inform individuals about the data being collected, its purpose, retention period, and whether it will be shared with third parties. This information must be communicated concisely and in plain language.
  1. The Right of Access:
  • Individuals have the right to access their personal data through a "data subject access request." This enables individuals to obtain a copy of their personal data held by an organization and confirm its lawful processing. Organisations generally have one month to fulfil such requests, with exceptions for unfounded, repetitive, or excessive requests.
  1. The Right to Rectification:
  • If individuals discover that the data an organization holds about them is inaccurate or incomplete, they can request its correction. Similar to the right of access, organisations typically have one month to make corrections, with exceptions.
  1. The Right to Erasure:
  • Also known as the "right to be forgotten," individuals can request the erasure of their data in specific circumstances, including when data is no longer necessary, unlawfully processed, or no longer serves its original purpose. This right also applies when individuals withdraw their consent, although specific legal exceptions may apply.
  1. The Right to Restrict Processing:
  • Individuals can request the limitation of how an organization processes their data. This can be an alternative to data erasure and is applicable when individuals contest data accuracy or when data is no longer needed for the original purpose but is required for legal purposes.
  1. The Right to Data Portability:
  • Individuals have the right to obtain and reuse their personal data across different services or organisations. This right allows individuals to move, copy, or transfer personal data easily and securely.
  1. The Right to Object:
  • Individuals can object to the processing of their data in certain situations, particularly when the processing is based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes. Organisations must stop processing data upon receiving an objection, unless they have compelling legitimate grounds for continuing.
  1. Rights Relating to Automated Decision-Making and Profiling:
  • Individuals have the right not to be subject to decisions made solely by automated means, including profiling, that have legal or similarly significant effects on them, except when these decisions are necessary for entering into or performing a contract, authorized by law, or based on explicit consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer at data@numo.money or call us at 01625 682663. We will inform you of any extension and the reasons for the delay within one month of receiving your request.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal data or any privacy-related issues, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's supervisory authority for data protection issues. You can contact the ICO at:
